Welcome to the official IGN Wiki Guide and Walkthrough for NBA 2K22 [Next-Gen Version]. In this section, we'll give you a breakdown on some of the best badges available. Knowing these can help you decide which players to pick up in MyTeam or what badges to target while building your own star in MyCareer.
Of course, it's important to remember that not every badge fits every build. We've selected at least five of our favorites for all four badge categories. However, if you're trying to play as a defensive center, feel free to make a few different choices to better suit your build.

Best Finishing Badges
| Badge | Description | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Fast Twitch | Speeds up the ability to get standing layups or dunks off before the defense has time to contest. | When you're near the bucket, you need to get off shots quickly. This helps you do that. |
| Unstrippable | When attacking the basket and performing a layup or dunk, the chances of being stripped are reduced. | Defense is much tougher in 2K22. This helps you hold onto the ball, especially nice for big men. |
| Posterizer | Increases the chances of throwing down a dunk on your defender. | Everybody likes a highlight reel. If you're making an athletic slasher, pick this badge up. |
| Fearless Finisher | Strengthens a player's ability to absorb contact and still finish. Also reduces the amount of energy lost from contact layups. | Again, defense is tougher this season. If you want to slash to the basket for easy buckets, consider grabbing this. |
| Slithery Finisher | Increases a player's ability to slide through traffic and avoid contact during gathers and finishes at the rim. | Get this for similar reasons as Fearless Finisher. |
Outside of those, we also like Acrobat, Limitless Takeoff, Grace Under Pressure, Post Spin Technician, and Putback Boss depending on your build.
Best Shooting Badges
| Badge | Description | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Blinders | Jump shots taken with a defender closing out in their peripheral vision will suffer a lower penalty. | Nearly essential if you want to build a shooter. Lessens the meter loss when players are closing out to contest your shot. |
| Hot Zone Hunter | Shots that are taken in a player's hot zone(s) are given a boost. | If you have several hot zones, this is a must have. Lets you spot up in those spots and score a ton of points. |
| Sniper | Just shots taken with slightly early/late timing will receive a boost, while early or late shots will receive a bigger penalty. | If you're a good shooter, take this. Conversely, if your timing is consistently off, skip it. The same can also be said for Green Machine. |
| Limitless Spot-Up | Gives a boost to the range that a player can effectively shoot standing three point shots. | Want to shoot from pretty much anywhere on the court? Pick this up. |
| Dead Eye | Jump shots taken with a defender closing out receive less of a penalty from a shot contest. | Similar to Blinders, but this is focused on defenders coming straight at you. |
| Lucky #7 | Gives a boost to mid-range or three point attempts within the first seven seconds of a possession. | This one can be huge if you push the fast break and look to get shots up quickly. If that's not your style though, skip it. |
Other badges to consider based on your build are Corner Specialist, Volume Shooter, Catch & Shoot, and Chef.
Best Playmaking Badges
| Badges | Description | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Dimer | When in the half-court, passes by Dimers to open shooters yield a shot percentage boost. | This is a must-have if you want to set up teammates with crisp passes. |
| Quick First Step | When driving out of triple threat or after a size-up, ball handlers have access to a quicker, and more effective, launches. | Grab this to help you blow-by defenders off the dribble. Great for slashers. |
| Handles for Days | A players takes less of an energy hit when performing consecutive dribble moves, allowing them to chain together combos quicker and for longer periods of time. | Dribble gods need to pick this badge up as it takes away some of the stamina decrease you get from chaining dribble moves. |
| Quick Chain | Improves the ability to quickly chain dribble moves together. | Partners very well with Handles for Days for a devastating dribbling combo. |
| Unpluckable | When performing dribble moves, defenders have a tougher time poking the ball free with their steal attempts. | As mentioned above, defense is much better this year. Keep that ball in your hands with this badge. |
You could also look to Bail Out, Ankle Breaker, and Bullet Passer.
Best Defensive/Rebounding Badges
| Badge | Description | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Clamps | Defenders have access to quicker cut off moves and are more successful when bumping or hip riding the ball handler. | Clamps lets you lock up a ball handler trying to drive past you. A must-have for perimeter defenders. |
| Pogo Stick | Allows players to quickly recover and go back up for another jump upon landing. This could be after a rebound, block attempt, or even jump shot. | If you get beat with a pump fake, this lets you jump back up immediately for a shot contest. It's incredibly helpful. |
| Intimidator | Offensive players have less success shooting when contested by players with this badge. Also boosts the shot defense ratings when tightly guarding an opponent. | This gives shots you contest less of chance of going in. A great badge for almost everyone. |
| Rebound Chaser | Improves a player's ability to chase down rebounds. Improves a player's ability to track down rebounds from farther distances than normal. | With a big, this badge is almost required. This lets you quickly get to any board, regardless of where it goes. |
| Rim Protector | Improves player's ability to block shots, reduces chances of getting dunked on and unlocks special block animations. | Another great badge for bigs. Gives you boosts to shot blocking and some great new animations. |
| Worm | When boxed out, rebounders have more success swimming around and getting into successful rebound position. | A great partner for Rebound Chaser. Lets you slide around opponents to grab boards. |
Other badges that make sense depending on your build and position: Menace, Pick Pocket, Interceptor, and Off-Ball Pest. Pick Dodger and Tireless Defender can also be helpful regardless of build, but are a step down from the other's available in our opinion.
